Over the last 12 months, Lions have provided soccer equipment both to other clubs within Arlington and to PUSH, a community based soccer organization in Bamako, Mali, which was established by a teacher at Kenmore Middle School. PUSH provides opportunities for local kids in Bamako, Mali to compete in organized youth soccer. Games are played on a dirt field in an informal section of Bamako and all of the players come from the local neighborhood.
This season, PUSH has contacted us again, this time requesting our help, not for soccer equipment or financial support but for technical expertise. This year PUSH is hoping to become a registered 501c3, non-profit organization so that it can operate more easily under its organizational banner rather than using an individual's name) and so that people can make tax-deductible donations to the organization. Is there a Lions parents out there who is familiar with the paperwork necessary to obtain legal 501c3 status who would be prepared to do a little pro bono work in order to get the appropriate paperwork in place? If so, please contact Barney Cohen at 703-534-9015.
Many thanks in anticipation and have a great season! Go Lions!
